A salty take on the issues faced by sailing enterprise

In The new trade winds (22 July), about sail-powered cargo vessels, we are told that their ship is named “Grain de sail”, referring to the French phrase “grain of salt” connoting the kernel of a great idea. After reading the difficulties encountered, one would be forgiven for taking that phrase in the English sense, of not believing that something is likely to come to fruition, explaining why there are funding issues.
