Bomb kills eight in Shia Muslim area of capital
A bomb exploded in a busy shopping street in Kabul last Saturday, killing eight people and injuring at least 22, hospital officials and witnesses said. The blast occurred in a western district of the capital where members of the minority Shia Muslim community regularly meet.
No responsibility was claimed for the attack, which came ahead of Ashura, an Islamic day marked mainly by Shia. At least eight people were killed and 18 injured in the city last Friday in a blast carried out by Islamic State, a Sunni Muslim militant group.
