Durst’s death comes months after he was charged with the murder of his first wife, Kathleen McCormack Durst, above, who disappeared on 31 January 1982, aged 29. Her body was never found and she was declared legally dead in 2017 at the request of her family. At the sentencing, Susan Berman’s relatives pleaded unsuccessfully with Durst to tell the McCormacks where he buried his first wife’s body.
