Senator and soldier killed in separate attacks
Prominent opposition figure Henry Kemende, a senator for the Social Democratic Front party, was shot dead in Bamenda city. His party said gunmen forced him from his car and shot him in the chest – it has blamed separatists.
In Buea, separatists killed a soldier with an improvised explosive device. Cho Ayaba, the head of the rebel Ambazonia Defence Forces, said the aim of the attack was to disrupt the country’s hosting of the Africa Cup of Nations football tournament.
