The Guardian Weekly

Olympics pictures raise serious questions

Occasionally, one wonders why the Guardian Weekly has things like two pages of nice pictures on the Tokyo Olympics (Eyewitness, 30 July) instead of two pages that analyse why the Japanese government is pushing the “empty-seat” Olympics through despite the coronavirus pandemic, rising case numbers inside the Olympic village and a local population overwhelmingly opposed to the Games. Evil heretics might suspect that buying nice pictures from Getty is easier than serious journalism.
