21 killed by car bomb on eve of US troop withdrawal
At least 21 people were killed and nearly 100 wounded after a car bomb exploded in Pul-e-Alam, south of Kabul that president Ashraf Ghani has blamed on the Taliban. The blast last Friday occurred in a residential area of the capital of Logar province, as people were breaking their Ramadan fast. It came a day before the US military formally began to pull out its remaining troops from the country. A local official said the blast caused widespread damage, including to a hospital.
